he most simplistic answer to the question “what is event management in an IT environment?” will be the management of application event logs and event ids in Windows and W3C event logs. To handle log management successfully, a real-time event log manager is used that works as a Windows 7 event viewer as well as a W3C event log analyzer. Lepide Event Log Manager is a smart event management software which provides a centralized platform to administer system event logs. With the help of such an event monitor, IT administrators are able to maintain logs of events that occur on Windows application and online. Computers configured in a network can be easily viewed with event viewer and reports can be generated about Windows application and web events. Details such as computer name, event date and time, event id, event type, event description, client IP, server port no., requested URL and requested status details can all be generated in the form of reports using event log analyzer. With such amount of information, network security issues can be resolved at the earliest. Furthermore, system event log manager also enables IT admin personnel to produce automated event logs on the local network using SQL Server as an event log repository. Event log management software also allows administrators to create different groups and assign event IDs to them so as to collect event logs and generate corresponding reports. This analysis becomes less complex and event behaviors and system performances can be predicted from a selected group. In addition to all these, Windows 7 event viewer also helps in complying by various security regulations and finding out possible laxities, if any for further development of information security policies.
